We got this wonderfully wild Sicilian wine in as a result of our food writer Claire Bullen texting us excitedly from a meal out, saying "OMG this wine! Tastes super mineral and earthy like a volcanic wine, but has this amazing rosy floral character on top."

It pours ruby red and may have a touch of spritz on first opening (give it a good shake or swirl to dissipate if needed). It's energetic and very fresh, with lively tannins and a fresh profile, with aromas of red fruit and spices.

Davide Bentivegna, Etnella‘s founder, abandoned his office job to realise his dream to make natural wine in Etna in 2008. He respects the ancient tradition of farming on Etna, following the lunar calendar to guide work in the vines and using very little copper and sulphur, with the majority of work performed manually. Grapes are always fermented with their own indigenous yeasts.
