It's not easy to bring an entire island into your home, especially one as beautiful and unique as the Greek Island of Santorini. But, thanks to Roxley Game Laboratory and Spin Master Ltd, it's as simple as carrying it in in one hand and laying it all out on your breakfast table. Santorini is a beautifully designed and produced abstract strategy game in which two to four players assume the roles of Greek gods moving around a 5x5 grid, building the city up, competing to be the first to stand atop the third story of one of the buildings. Gameplay is wonderfully simple with players first moving one of their two figures one space in any direction and then building one level of a building on any of the squares orthogonally or diagonally adjacent to the square they landed on. These building tiles can be placed up to three stories high and then adorned with a blue dome to complete the building and block it off as a potential victory space for the opponent and yourself. The game comes with 30 god/goddess cards that provide variable player powers that will dramatically impact on how each game will play out. They provide a deep level of replay-ability which means that each game you play will feel very different while also ensuring that it feels familiar enough to master. In the Spin Master version, players will still have the eye catching raised board, top quality building tiles, neat worker miniatures and gorgeously illustrated god cards, but it will be minus the vibrant blue ocean base. It also doesn't come with the picture book which adds a nice story to the game. However, these things aren't necessary to the game so you can rest assured that you'll still be getting the fantastic game play that is in all versions. Player Count: 2-4 Time: 20 Minutes Age: 8+
