What is Neurobion Advance?

Neurobion Advance is a drug containing thiamine (vitamin B1), pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). It is intended for use in adults only.

When to use Neurobion Advance?

Neurobion Advance can be taken to prevent a reduction in the levels of these vitamins in the body or to treat a deficiency (not enough of these vitamins in the body). Low levels of vitamins B1, B6 or B12 may occur when:

  • you do not eat enough foods that contain these vitamins;
  • the patient's body is unable to absorb these vitamins from food;
  • you have had surgery on your stomach or intestines, which may affect how nutrients are absorbed;
  • you have certain medical conditions, such as certain inflammatory diseases, which may increase the amount of vitamins your body uses;
  • you have a medical condition such as kidney disease which may cause your body to remove more vitamins than normal.

Low levels of vitamin B1, B6 or B12 may be more common in the elderly or in patients suffering from neurological diseases, diabetes or digestive diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease or celiac disease. If you have low levels of vitamin B1, B6 or B12, you may not have any symptoms at first, but you may develop symptoms such as tiredness or a tingling sensation and numbness in your hands and feet. This medicinal product should only be used if the patient has any of the symptoms or conditions listed above (i.e. the diagnosis has been confirmed by a physician) and their treatment has been prescribed by a physician.

Important before use

Neurobion Advance - warnings

This is medicine. For safety, use it according to the package leaflet and only when necessary. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Neurobion Advance: -

  • if you suffer from megaloblastic anemia. Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) may cause relief of megaloblastic anemia due to folic acid deficiency. Due to the presence of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin), the use of Neurobion Advance may alleviate this condition, so care should be taken that the correct diagnosis is not masked.

If you get any new symptoms after taking Neurobion Advance, stop taking the product and talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

This medicinal product contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per film-coated tablet, that is to say essentially 'sodium-free'.

Neurobion Advance and pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Neurobion Advance and driving

Neurobion Advance has not been shown to have any effect on the ability to drive or use machines.

Neurobion Advance - overdose

  • If you accidentally take too much Neurobion Advance, tell your doctor or pharmacist or contact your nearest hospital emergency department for further advice.
  • Symptoms of neuropathy may occur if more than one tablet a day is taken for six months or more, e.g. increased or decreased sensation of pressure, temperature and pain in the arms, hands, feet or legs, numbness, tingling sensation, muscle weakness, decreased reflexes or other neurological symptoms.
  • In this case, stop taking the product and contact your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

Other medicines and Neurobion Advance

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
  • Vitamin B6 may increase the severity of side effects and weaken the therapeutic effect of levodopa. Medicines containing substances such as dopamine decarboxylase inhibitors (e.g. medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease) may cause vitamin B6 deficiency.
  • Pyridoxine antagonists such as isoniazid, cycloserine, penicillamine or hydralazine may reduce the effectiveness of vitamin B6.
  • Long-term use of loop diuretics (drugs that increase the production and excretion of urine), such as furosemide, may accelerate the elimination of vitamin B1 and lower its levels in the blood, and may also cause lower levels of vitamin B6 in the blood.

What are the side effects of Neurobion Advance?

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects may occur with not known frequency while taking Neurobion Advance (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):

  • signs of allergic reactions such as sweating, tachycardia (rapid heart rate) and skin reactions with itching and hives;
  • digestive complaints such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain;
  • discoloration of the urine (red discoloration of the urine that may occur in the first few hours after taking the tablet and usually disappears soon after discontinuation of treatment).

Half gone in the first 45 minutes...
Size: 6 Inch, Color: Bone
our medium sized dog is an aggressive chewer but we expected mire than 3/4 of an hour before the bone's demise. Half gone quickly, heavy stitching included, so threw away the second half for fear of a blockage. Not safe, not durable, disappointing. Sorry, cannot recommend this one.

Puppy loves it!
Size: 6 Inch, Color: Bone
I have a very energetic lab puppy - this chew kept her still for longer than any other toy I’ve tried (besides bully sticks and peanut butter). Highly recommend!

Good for an aggressive chewer
Size: 6 Inch, Color: Bone
My dog loves it. These last a long time. My dog is a Rottweiler/American Bulldog mix, she goes through a lot of toys. So, I try to buy her something that has no stuffing, but will keep her from getting bored. This one has lasted about 6-7 months, the leather is chewed off, but it's still the shape of a bone. I did just order another though, the one she has is a little stinky from her slobber. :-)

Not as expected
Size: 6 Inch, Color: Bone
I have been looking for these ever since we got a similar one at Sierras for our 1 1/2 yo Cane Corso. She is brutal on chew toys and the first one from the box store held up well. However, this did not hold up as well and she was done with it in less than a week. Still looking for that perfect toy.

More durable than expected.
Size: 5 Inch, Color: Raccoon
I was walking through my front room the other day when I noticed a suspicious spot on the floor. It looked like something I should not touch without gloves. As I got closer, I realized what it was. It’s the ‘guts’ from this toy. My dogs (Pit Bull and German Shorthaired Pointer) were each given one. Both are aggressive chewers with their toys. They ATE the faces off these toys and now play with the felt interior. I’m still trying to figure out how they ate through leather while the felt remained intact. Regardless, they still play with them. Now they are basically semi-fuzzy throw toys we can throw in the house because they don’t leave marks on the wall if our aim is off. Sometimes things work out the way they should. :)
