With a rags-to-riches story, Phar Lap captured the hearts of many during the Great Depression, symbolising hope and resilience. His impressive stature, standing at an imposing 17.1 hands high, was matched only by his incredible racing record, winning an astonishing 37 of 51 races he entered. 

Known for his massive heart, literally – it weighed 14 pounds, almost twice the size of an average horse's heart – Phar Lap was not just a champion on the track but a legend that galloped into the annals of horse racing history.
