Explore the complexity of leadership in turbulent times with *The British Prime Minister in an Age of Upheaval*. Authored by Mark Garnett, this insightful analysis delves into the evolving role of the British Prime Minister, from Margaret Thatcher's polarizing reign to Boris Johnson's management during a global pandemic. This book offers a nuanced examination of how significant political events and individual personalities shape the core functions of the Prime Minister, including party leadership, Cabinet formation, diplomatic roles, and electoral strategy. Garnett's thematic approach sheds light on the challenges faced by leaders like David Cameron and Theresa May, who have stepped down since 2016 amidst unprecedented political pressures. The book argues that the allure of the Prime Minister's office may be diminishing for those dedicated to public service, potentially paving the way for leaders with different motivations. Ideal for anyone interested in British politics, leadership dynamics, and historical analysis, *The British Prime Minister in an Age of Upheaval* is a must-read. Description:
In this timely book, Mark Garnett provides a bracing reassessment of the role of the British Prime Minister, from Margaret Thatcher™s controversial tenure to Boris Johnson™s attempt to confront a pandemic with a ministerial team created to face the very different challenge of Brexit. Taking a thematic approach, Garnett explores the impact of major political developments and personalities on key aspects of prime ministerial functions as party leader, Cabinet-maker, chief diplomat and electoral talismanMuch of the controversy over the position of Prime Minister, he concludes, arises from a confusion between the occupant™s inescapable political prominence and his or her “ often limited “ ability to achieve positive policy outcomesWith both David Cameron and Theresa May forced to resign since 2016, the book questions whether the nature of the job has become a deterrent for politicians who are motivated by a desire to serve the British public, opening the way for individuals with much less laudable motivations.

Works as expected — good 4K signal and fast Ethernet
This Amazon Basics USB-C hub works exactly as it should. The HDMI connection gives a clean 4K signal to my TV, and the wired Ethernet connection is stable.
I’m getting around 900 Mbps through the cable, which is very good for my setup. Power delivery also works normally. Overall, a simple and reliable hub that does the job well.

Fairly effective.
While I didn't bother reading instructions, it functioned as I intuitively thought with some slight troubleshooting.
For example, using the correct USB-C for power or data. Connections to support an external monitor needs power toggling occasionally. Patience paid off.
Expected a subpar Chinese knock-off (with questionable safety standards). But works very well, but can get warm.

Lots of great uses for this.
This hub is essential for a Quest or other virtual reality headset if you want to stream HDMI video to it. It allows you to hook up the HDMI source AND a power supply to feed to the headset to prevent the battery from running down.
