FAQ GCSE Geography:

Why do I need to provide evidence of completing fieldwork?
The ability to record data in the field to test a hypothesis is a key part of Geography and therefore the exam board requires that all candidates taking GCSE Geography complete coursework. In addition there will be questions in the exam related to fieldwork techniques and you will be disadvantaged if you have no experience of these techniques. The fieldwork can be completed independently without need for specialist equipment but in order to fulfil the exam board requirements we request that you send us evidence of you completing the coursework in the form of a short report on the work you undertook. 

How do I get the pre-release material?
The questions on Paper 3 are based on pre-release material that is issued 12 weeks before the exam date. You will be sent an electronic copy of the pre-release material in pdf format shortly after it is released. You do not need to bring a copy of the pre-release material to the exam as a clean copy will be provided in the exam.

What additional equipment do I need to bring to the exams? 
All answers must be written in black pen. In addition to black pens a HB pencil may be used for graphs and diagrams and a ruler and eraser are also required. Some students find using a highlighter useful on Geography papers but please note that you must not highlight any part of your answer as this will prevent it from being marked.
