Madrona Block Md70 1.7" x 1.8" x 10.6" 0.7 lbs. This is a beautiful spindle of Pacific Madrone wood. It has light peach color with darker peach undertones. Madrona tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, and we think you will be very pleased with these spindles. Photos represent this size of spindle and may not show the exact spidle you receive. This is a fully air-dried blank, measuring 10-12% moisture content. Madrona tends to have a fair bit of internal stress stored up due to its twisting and turning growth habit. This gives the wood its gorgeous grain but also increases the risk of cracks occuring while drying. This piece has a few cracks that we show with the close-up photos. We recommend stabilizing these with thin CA glue prior to turning. This size of spindle is useful for a range of turning, carving, or other woodworking projects. Popular projects from this size spindle: game calls, bottle stoppers, shot glasses, tool handles, knife scales, toothpick holders, drawer pulls, honey dippers, magic wands. About the Tree This Madrona tree lived a long and healthy life on San Juan Island, Washington. It died naturally and was harvested in the course of good forest management. |

Exceptional
Format: Kindle
Anthony Bourdain would not reject this story of a monster so in love with what is better in our human nature. This is indeed a master piece because it is so well crafted and therefore so mooving. A delicious journey through deep feelings, food, love, generosity... and hunger for Life!

Demons and Their Food
Format: Paperback
It is a truly fascinating story, interspersed with recipes of famous dishes. It is a tale of food, spices, and people. It is people who make the food all the more enticing, the people who grow and sell the spices, the cooks who spend hours and days preparing food. They give of their time and enhance the food with their passion for it. But there is an old demon in this story, and he is a cook too. He eats enormous amounts of food, because of people. He eats people because of the food. He hires a young delicious filmmaker to tell his story. Will the filmmaker become a meal for the demon? Has he come under the spell of the demon? Will he become a demon himself? What will happen to the demon? What of the people who are hunting him?
