A large, burnt orange and olive drab ashtray with iron rings in the AUTUMN SUNSET glaze designed by Enzo Borgini for BAGNI CERAMICHE. Borgini was a mid-century master unto himself who occasionally lent his distinctive artistry to the studio of Alvino Bagni, becoming a favorite collaborator. Imported by Raymor.

ALVINO BAGNI (1919–2009) was born in 1919 in the quiet Tuscan hamlet of Lastra a Signa in the environs of Florence. His boyhood and adolescence were spent without his father, who, as a communist, had been exiled under Italian fascism. The young Bagni took an early interest in pottery, a regionally important industry. He studied the basics of drawing and clay modeling under the tutelage of local sculptor Torello Santini (1875–1946) and, with his referral, took a job in the workshop of Arnaldo Pugi’s ceramics factory in nearby Ponte a Signa. Bagni had a brief stint at Bitossi Ceramiche in nearby Montelupo, where famed ceramist Aldo Londi (1911–2003) took him under his wing.

After the Second World War, Pugi helped Bagni finance the opening of a studio of his own in Lastra a Signa, BAGNI CERAMICHE. Several family members were employed there, including wife Gina. (She would continue to work alongside Bagni throughout his career.) An order for 3,500 elephant-head plates bearing the slogan “I like Ike,” manufactured for export during the 1952 US presidential race, got things rolling for the studio. It proved to be a prophetic commission: a large majority of Bagni’s work would be for the US market.

During the ’50s and ’60s, Bagni established and nurtured pivotal collaborations with Bitossi and the import companies Rosenthal Netter and Raymor, the latter being a dominant American firm. Such alliances allowed Bagni to open a larger, better-equipped factory where he surrounded himself with highly skilled artists—Enzo Borgini, M. Mannori, Remo Buti, and Michelangelo Santonocito, among them. Bagni produced a stunning variety of designs for Raymor, including some highly individualistic studio pieces. The latter perhaps represent the very best of his work—featuring stripes, geometric patterns, and bold lava-type glazes. Bagni was always experimenting, and he produced some truly radical glaze and color combinations. A case in point is the Sea Garden décor, an unusual mix of turquoise, blue, green, yellow, browns, and blacks. Bagni often incorporated rings or other small metal pieces within his ceramic designs.

By 1980, BAGNI CERAMICHE had nearly 100 employees and was internationally renowned for high-quality, artistic productions as well as its innovative methods. As the world increasingly opened up to global competition, however, the company found itself in financial straits. Married as it was to an “artisanal” approach, it struggled to withstand the downward pressure on prices. Despite Bagni’s noble efforts to save his factory and employees, BAGNI CERAMICHE closed for good in 1990.

Bagni returned to pottery with Nuove Forme, a venture founded with son-in-law Gianfranco Ghiretti in Florence in 1993. A natural evolution of his older company, Nuove Forme continued to research and experiment with colors and processes. It found its niche producing limited runs of virtually unique objects for the most discerning buyers. Nuove Forme owns many of Bagni’s historical designs and curates an enormous Bagni showroom—something of a museum of his work. Bagni retired for health reasons in 2001. He died in 2009 at age 90.

Good privacy screen
Size: 1 Panel, Size: 1 Panel
This is a good privacy screen that's easy to assemble and looks nice. Be a little careful moving it, as the corners can twist. It's sturdy once in place, and the thick material is completely opaque. If the folds bother you, you might want to iron it, but I'm happy with it as is.

Lightweight divider that works well for video call backgrounds
Size: 1 Panel
This divider works fine for what it is, but it’s definitely on the lightweight side. Setup was very easy and only took a few minutes. The frame is fairly light, so it’s easy to move around or reposition if needed. That said, the tradeoff is that it’s not especially sturdy. It stands fine on its own but I wouldn’t expect it to handle much bumping or movement. I mainly bought it to use as a background for Zoom calls when I’m working from my den, and for that purpose it works great. The fabric panel blocks the room behind me and gives a cleaner background on camera. It’s not huge though. To keep the camera from seeing around it, I have to position it directly behind my chair. If you’re expecting it to divide a large room or create a big privacy barrier, it may feel a bit small. Overall, it does the job and works well for temporary setups or video call backgrounds, but the lightweight frame keeps it from feeling like a premium divider. The product description and photos are accurate.

Sent Wrong Pieces
Size: 1 Panel, Size: 1 Panel
I really, really wanted to like this - and, in theory, I really, really should have! The instructions were easy to follow and assembly took about five minutes. The assembled screen is lightweight and easy to move. It was a great size and exactly what I was looking for except....I wasn't sent the correct pieces. Instead of receiving 4 elbow pieces and 4 feet, I received 2 elbow pieces and 8 feet - meaning that the bottom part of the fabric just hangs there and, overall, the divider is extremely unstable because there is no horizontal support on the bottom. Thankfully, there are Velcro tabs on the side of the fabric so I can use it if I don't plan to move it even 1 cm, but otherwise, what I received is not usable for what I needed it for. Additionally, the fabric is made of polyester and catches animal hair very easily. Had I received the correct pieces, this would be a good buy for the money. Unfortunately, overall, I'm disappointed.

Works great, keeps the light out of my eyes and easy to put together
Size: 1 Panel, Size: 1 Panel
I got this room divider in and it works great. It’s really easy to put together you don’t even need tools. I really like that it’s not see through, it’s not a black out curtain but it keeps light out pretty good. I absolutely hate my bedroom layout there’s no bathroom door. My girlfriend and I have different work schedules so I’m trying to sleep while she’s getting ready for work and the light shines right in my eyes. This divider keeps the light out of my eyes and that’s exactly what I was hunting for. I also like that you can adjust the length. I took one of the bars out to make it a little shorter and it worked great. I would recommend this room divider.

Versatile Room Divider With Easy Assembly and Strong Coverage
Size: 3 Panel 12FT W
I picked up this Siebwin 3-panel folding room divider mainly for privacy and room separation, and overall it works very well. Assembly is very straightforward, and the divider can be set up, taken apart, and stored without much effort. The fabric quality feels good, and the frame construction is stronger and more stable than expected. The support tubes especially feel well built and help keep the divider standing securely. One feature I really liked is the flexibility of the design. The panels can be used together as a complete divider or separated depending on the setup and available space. That makes it much more versatile for different room layouts or temporary privacy needs. The coverage is also very good, and the size matches the manufacturer’s description accurately. The fabric blocks light and background visibility well enough to provide solid privacy without feeling overly heavy. The wider feet also help improve stability compared to thinner folding dividers. Another positive detail is that everything arrived complete with no missing parts or damaged pieces, which made assembly much easier and faster. Compared to cheaper privacy screens, this one feels more durable and easier to customize depending on the situation. In terms of value for the money, it feels like a very practical and worthwhile purchase considering the size, flexibility, and build quality. Overall, a versatile and well-built room divider with easy assembly, strong privacy coverage, stable construction, complete included parts, flexible panel configuration, and excellent everyday functionality.
