This version represents the perfect surface for oil painters, created with the ever popular Claessens No.18 Oil Primed linen. A medium textured surface of 545 gsm which has been initially sealed with clear acrylic size and then prepared by artisans with 2 coats of oil prime to complete the surface finish. The linen has 17 warp threads and 14.5 weft threads per cm.

Your surface will enjoy the application of both thin washes of oil paint and equally bold expressive brushwork. The subtle texture only gently implies itself on your surface, making it a most versatile painting surface for the oil painter.

The support for these canvases is the ever popular 32mm Victorian Ash, which is a kiln dried, finger jointed timber that provides stability against warpage and is perfect for frameless display. Our traditional wedging practise eliminates wedges dislodging and being lost.
