The Craft: Horn Carving and Silver Chain Assembly

This hair stick is carved from a single piece of natural horn, polished to a smooth, translucent finish. The top features a carved floral or leaf-like pattern, part of the shaft itself. A gold-colored star-shaped pendant is affixed to the tip, from which hangs a multi-strand gold chain with small colored beads (blue, purple, yellow) and a star charm.

The silver chain tassel is assembled by hand, with each bead and charm attached to fine S925 silver links. The combination of horn's warm translucency and the delicate silver chain creates a piece that moves and catches light with every turn of the head.

The Horn

Horn has been used in Chinese hair accessories for centuries, valued for its natural warmth, lightweight feel, and subtle translucency. Each piece is unique — the pale yellowish-brown color and slight variations in grain are marks of genuine horn, not defects. Over time, horn may develop a deeper patina with wear.
