Overview

First introduced in 2014, the URWERK UR-105 M Dark Knight marked the beginning of the UR-105 series. Produced in a limited run of 77 pieces, it presents a darker and more restrained interpretation of URWERK’s satellite time display.

The Dark Knight is defined by its use of AlTiN coated steel, creating a deep matte black surface with exceptional hardness and resistance to wear. Combined with a lightweight titanium body, the watch balances durability with comfort while maintaining a strong architectural presence on the wrist.

Case and Construction

The UR-105 M Dark Knight is built around the idea of a protective shield.

The upper case, finished in black coated steel, acts as a barrier over the satellite display beneath. This layered construction echoes the form of armour, where the outer shell protects the mechanical system inside.

The contrast between the darkened steel shield and the titanium body enhances the 

Satellite Time Display

Time is displayed using URWERK’s signature satellite hour complication.

Four rotating satellites carry the hour numerals, each travelling across the 60 minute track to indicate the current time. The active hour is framed by a circular PEEK canopy, which highlights the display while partially covering the inactive satellites.

Once the minute arc is completed, the satellite rotates through a Geneva cross mechanism and continues its orbit before returning to the display.

The movement of the satellites creates a continuous and mechanical rhythm that defines the UR-105.

Side Indicators

The side of the case integrates additional information without disrupting the main display.

These lateral indications reinforce the technical nature of the watch and provide a constant reference to the state of the movement.

The URWERK Control Board

Turning the watch over reveals the URWERK Control Board, one of the defining features of the 105 series.

This system provides additional information and interaction with the movement:

• 42 hour power reserve indicator
• fine tuning screw for rate adjustment

The Control Board reflects URWERK’s approach to mechanical transparency, allowing the wearer to monitor and adjust the performance of the watch.
