When to Replace

• The throttle grip feels heavy, "crunchy," or fails to return to the idle position automatically.
• Visible fraying or broken steel strands at the barrel ends or junction points.
• The engine RPMs increase unintentionally when the handlebars are turned to the left or right.
• The protective outer casing is melted, kinked, or cracked, exposing the inner wire to debris.
• Excessive "slop" in the throttle grip that cannot be removed using the inline adjuster.

Installation Tips

• Follow Original Routing: Route the new cable exactly along the path of the old one to avoid high-heat areas like the exhaust manifold.
• Avoid Tight Bends: Ensure there are no sharp angles in the cable path, as these will cause internal friction and premature failure.
• Set Free Play: Adjust the threaded barrel so there is approximately 2mm to 4mm of free play in the throttle grip before the carburetor butterfly begins to open.
• Lubrication: Apply a small amount of silicone-based cable lubricant to the inner wire before final assembly to ensure long-term smooth operation.
• Safety Check: With the engine off, turn the handlebars fully from lock to lock and verify the throttle stays in the closed position throughout the entire range of motion.
