Taking you across the globe, battling the dark forces of H.P. Lovecraft's fiction, Eldritch Horror plunges 1-8 players into a harrowing campaign to prevent the Ancient Ones from awakening and devastating the world as we know it. Fantasy Flight Games will take you on a conquest in which you will encounter a slew of ungodly horrors and accrue injuries to your body and mind as you attempt to repel them. In this co-operative experience, you assume control of one of 12 playable investigators to solve three mysteries unique to each of the four Ancient Ones. Each of these otherworldly beings considerably alters the obstacles you'll face, from the insanity-provoking sea-entities of Cthulhu, to the spell-orientated gatekeeper, Yog-Sothoth. Regardless of the opponent you select, Eldritch Horror promises a challenging experience. In this box, players will have the choice of 12 different investigators, with differing stats, abilities and starting 'assets' which will drastically alter your playstyle. These traits can be altered over the course of the game, for better or worse. Of the 40 assets you have available, you can utilise firearms, allies and various supportive services. You can also risk your psyche to control artefacts and spells of the mythos. All of these components printed on high quality quality and emblazoned with gorgeous artwork. The gameplay itself involves moving across a map of the world, gathering clues, slaying monsters and engaging in otherworldly encounters. These are primarily performed using dice rolls, which can be augmented using the aforementioned character stats and equipment. The game is straightforward to teach, but has enough depth to stay interesting after numerous plays and remains challenging to even the most experienced players. A more in-depth overview can be found in our review, which fondly scores Eldritch Horror 85%. If you join the many others in loving this game, there are several expansions available to enhance your experience, which we would certainly encourage you to look into. To begin with, we'd suggest the Forsaken Lore expansion, which is a well-rounded little box that brings you a bit more of everything. Player Count: 1-8 Time: 120-240 Minutes Age: 14+

Amazing
Format: Hardcover
"You know a poem's good if it makes people feels things" And this novel-in-verse is beyond good. Each word is perfectly chosen to bring you naturally into Selah's world, and her voice is crystal-clear. This was an emotional read for me, and there were so many points that I felt my eyes welling up, sometimes in sympathy and sometimes with joy at her journey. Her friends, teachers, classmates, and family were fully formed as well. I feel like I know and understand them all so well. I want to go chill in Pop's basement. I want to give Selah's Mom a hug and tell her she's doing great. I'd love to be on a team with Mrs. V, and I absolutely adored Selah's close friend Noelle with her smeagoling and dogged determination to stand by her friend. They are people I would have loved to hang out with them. Loved, loved, loved the dragon metaphors. They made Selah's feelings, wants, and desire so clear and relatable. I have a slight obsession with the dragons of Birk, so of course, I gave a little cheer everytime they were mentioned. The FantasyCon scene was lovely, and I loved how it was a turning point on Selah's journey towards finding herself. I always love when the dear nerdly community pulls through. Anyway, I'll probably be throwing this book at everyone's head for a while. It's beautiful, profound, a little cathartic, and important. But also, it's a really enjoyable read! Like, Selah's just a really cool girl. Everything about it was just right, and I feel better for having read it.

Eye Opening!! A great perspective of what is happening in some neurodivergent brain,
Format: Audiobook
What a fantastic book! It gives insight into how neurodivergent people experience the world. I have always heard the phrase "All behavior is communication." I recently listened to an add-on to that phrase: "Distressed behavior communicates a person's distress." I couldn't help but think about this phrase as I read this story. The fatigue of masking is a significant challenge; pretending to be someone you are not is a constant struggle. As a neurodivergent teacher who teaches neurodivergent kids, this story touched my heart, and I highly recommend it to anyone who will listen.

Great book!
Format: Hardcover
I loved the book. It’s a quick read as the novel is written beautifully through poetry. The main character is easy to love and root for. As a teacher who is always advocating for neurodivergent kids, I am often helping parents see the strengths and needs for their child. I love that a book exists where kids can go “That’s me!” and learn to love who they were created to be and find tools that help make the world easier to cope with. The author even gives suggestions and resources in the back of the book. This novel is timely as we are starting to have a greater understanding of the spectrum of Autism. Grandparents and parents are beginning to understand themselves through the diagnosis of their kids/grandkids or even nieces/nephews. Knowing yourself is a powerful thing as Selah (the main character) teaches us.
