A Houhin is a type of Kyusu that can concentrate the flavor of high-quality tea leaves such as "Gyokuro" by infiltrating them slowly with low-temperature hot water.
Place about 1 teaspoon of tea leaves for each person in the Houhin, pour the hot water about 60°C(140°F), and wait for about 1 minute. Then, simply pour the tea into the teacup while holding the lid down.
A tea strainer is not necessary because the spout has a jagged edge to prevent tea leaves from getting into the teacup.
It is also suitable for brewing Chinese teas with large tea leaves, in which case boiling water is used. When holding it, use a dish towel to avoid burns.
Recommended to pair this with RYOUKA Usuki Japanese teacup. If you have a set of them, you will have a more wonderful and authentic tea time.
