Discover the transformation of play in Playgrounds, a groundbreaking book by Ben Highmore. After World War II, an innovative type of playground emerged in Northern Europe and North America, one that moved beyond traditional slides, swings, and roundabouts. These new playgrounds empowered children to build shacks and invent their own forms of entertainment, fostering creativity and imagination. This compelling narrative delves into how neglected waste grounds and bomb sites became vibrant spaces filled with activity, driven by children and visionaries who believed in the power of play.In Playgrounds, Highmore meticulously narrates the story of pioneers, designers, and charities who passionately shaped the evolution of playgrounds. This book era introduces readers to the significant role playgrounds play in developing social skills, equality, and self-organization among children. Its beautifully illustrated account showcases how innovative designs are rooted in the belief that children can creatively engage with their environment.
Praise for the book highlights its importance in today’s world, where outdoor play is increasingly threatened. With rich details and a hopeful narrative, Playgrounds serves as both a historical account and a poignant reminder of the essential role that imaginative play plays in child development. This timely exploration is a must-read for educators, parents, and anyone passionate about childhood development and the evolution of public spaces.

I like the shirt and the price was decent
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
Nice but I don’t like it on my neck. I’m giving it away as a gift.

Too small for the shown size.
Size: XX-Large, Color: Black, Size: XX-Large, Color: Black
I usually would buy XL size but in this case I bought XXL thinking since it's cotton it might shrink. But when I tried the T-shirt it was too small. My older XL sized T-shirt has 2 1/2" larger total shoulder width and 3" wider body width. See attached pictures. Length was also a bit shorter by about 1/2". I will to return it.

Does not match the size
Size: 3X-Large, Color: Blue
Way smaller than the size indicated. Very thin material, almost see- thru.

Nice sweatshirt
Color: White, Size: Small
Really happy with this sweatshirt. The material is soft, warm, and has a nice thickness without feeling bulky—perfect for crisp fall days and layering in winter. The quilted texture and mock neck give it a more polished, upscale look than a regular sweatshirt. Fits true to size, and the color is vibrant and unique. I like the quarter-snap buttons and chest pocket for a little extra style and function. Easy to dress up or down with jeans or boots, and works great for everyday wear or going out. Definitely a solid addition to a fall/winter wardrobe.
