The overall color is the classic golden yellow of fresh cut Bodark heartwood. That strong color will darken to an even more attractive, dark reddish brown with time. This is another nice, end-grain block of Texas Bodark. The overall color is the classic golden-yellow of fresh-cut Bodark heartwood. That strong color will darken to an even more attractive, dark reddish-brown with time. There is a prominent stripe of reddish spalting along a portion of one edge (both photos) and lighter stripes and patches elsewhere. 

There is a distinct, dark brown crack that crosses one edge of the block and is visible on the two adjacent sides. It is very shallow at one end (near end, top photo) and comes to the surface at the other end. Those end portions will clearly turn-off as the block is turned to round, but it is possible that a small portion of the crack will remain (note - the price below reflects that possibility). I see no other potentially significant flaws.
