The Platatac Extended Patrol Alice Pack (EPAP) draws directly from the ARVN and tropical rucksacks carried by Australian and U.S. forces during last century’s jungle campaigns -packs defined by simplicity, durability, and practical load carriage in harsh environments.
Those early lightweight designs went on to influence the ALICE packs still in service today. The EPAP builds on that lineage, combining the proven layout and familiarity of the medium ALICE pack with the comfort, versatility, and modularity of a modern 3-Day Assault Pack.
Offering slightly more capacity than a traditional medium ALICE, the EPAP integrates PALS webbing to expand load-carrying options and improve organisation, without compromising the clean, functional profile that made the original design so enduring. It is equally at home carrying mission-essential equipment, sustainment stores, or general-purpose field loads.
The EPAP can be worn in an “assault” configuration without a frame using the 1606 / Alice Strap Set. For additional structure and comfort in this setup, a NATO sleeping mat can be inserted into the frame channel to provide improvised support.
When heavier loads are required, the EPAP is fully compatible with the 1606, standard Alice frames, and Palice Frames. It integrates seamlessly with most straps, lumbar and hip pad sets, allowing the pack to be configured for extended patrols, load carriage, or sustained operations.
The result is a pack that respects its heritage while delivering modern performance - simple, adaptable, and built to carry weight where and how you need it.
