After settling on a new name and several lineup changes, the now-legendary Cryptopsy recorded their first demo as a five-piece in 1993. The band would go on to re-record most of these songs for their blasphemous full-length debut, but Ungentle Exhumation already bore their unmistakable mark on death metal. “Gravaged: A Cryptopsy” is split open by the hair-raising screech and brutal barks of Lord Worm, while Flo Mounier flogs closer “Mutant Christ” with unhinged technical precision.
