Its color is a soft tan to peachy light brown color with subtle darker brown streaks of mineralization. The wood grain has a pleasant and gracefully flowing pattern. Pecan Bowl Blank P-473 3" x 8" x 6.2" 3.1 lbs. This is an attractive half-log bowl blank of Texas-grown Pecan wood. Its color is a soft tan to peachy light brown color with subtle darker-brown streaks of mineralization. The wood grain has a pleasant and gracefully flowing pattern. It has full and well-attached bark on the back side. There are extensive tunnels of a wood borer in an interesting pattern. This feature will likely need epoxy stabilization if you want to preserve it or highlight it in your finished turning. This half-log bowl blank should be suitable for a bowl of 6-8" in diameter and 3" deep. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. However, if you want a full bark edge on the "natural" rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This piece is GREEN to partially air-dried, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. Moisture content was 20% when measured in May, 2022. It has been well-sealed and is in the process of slowly drying. It was heat-treated to kill off any hungry critters that may have been burrowing inside. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. This is a classic half-log blank, split through the center of the log. There is no pith present in the block. I'm taking plenty of photos of this piece, so please scroll down below the first 3 photos to see more. About the Tree This Texas-grown Pecan tree was harvested in Fresno Texas in December, 2021. It was in a residential neighborhood where it had been planted near a home that was built in the 1930s. Over the years, the small Pecan tree grew large, and it threatened the house. The homeowners reluctantly called their tree company to cut down the tree and stack the wood for us to recover. We're always happy to save wood from the firepit or city dump. Their trash is now yours to treasure! |

A must read for public executives
Format: Paperback
Concise, focused, and full of real-world point and counterpoints, I found this to be more of an essential piece of oratory combat equipment than a book. As a non-lawyer working in public service, this book provides excellent points on interpretation, form versus substance, and the importance of observation and evidence – all skills needed to protect the public interest. As someone who monitors contracts in the public sector, many of my peers could benefit from this book and better design contracts to the advantage of their public entity. Incidentally, I was also involved in a heated discussion about data interpretation the same week I was reading this book, and was able to calmly defend and dominate the discussion until my opponent acquiesced. More important than dominating your opponent is the theme throughout this book that one’s argument must be genuine, and the logic tight. Additionally, as Prof. Trachtman reminds readers that these skills, like a weapon, should only be used for good. A great read!

What our kids need to hear
Format: Hardcover
This book says exactly what our kids need to hear in these confusing times. There are so many things that our children hear and see these days that it can be overwhelming and confusing. This book and the sweet illustrations make teaching our kids how lucky we are to live in the US so very easy and important. This is something we need to make sure our children appreciate and they will grow up proud to protect our freedoms afforded to us by so many. Love this book!

Simply Wonderful

I Love America is a wonderful book to help children (along with the rest of us!) recognize and appreciate the blessings bestowed upon us by God, including our freedoms in all their forms, our remarkable veterans, and those that work so hard to make our nation what it is.
The fun rhyming and adorable illustrations kept our boys glued to it the whole time.
