Salmon Huckleberry Wilderness

The steep, forested ridges and valleys of the 44,600-acre Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness are located 55 miles southeast of Portland and about 15 miles southeast of Sandy.

Bull of the Woods Wilderness

Located 70 miles southeast of Portland, and 65 miles east of Salem, the 34,885-acre Bull of the Woods Wilderness is relatives isolated. Steep ridges are deeply cut by a number of streams including the headwaters of the Collawash, Breitenbush, and Little North Santiam Rivers. Elevation ranges from 2,400 feet to 5,700 feet, and vegetation changes from old-growth Douglas-fir/western hemlock to sparse sub-alpine forests.

Opal Creek Wilderness & Scenic Recreation Area

Located 40 miles east of Salem, Opal Creek is a large, intact, contiguous forest containing low-elevation old growth trees. Steep ridges are cut by Opal, Battle Ax, Cedar, and Elkhorn Creeks, major tributaries draining into the Little North Santiam River. Elevations range from 1,200 feet within the Scenic Recreation Area along the Little North Santiam River to 5,558 feet at Battle Ax in the Opal Creek and Bull of the Woods Wildernesses.
