Establishing the base experience with a unique PRS semi-hollow mahogany body with an asymmetric top bevel, the S2 Vela Semi-Hollow is notably lighter and acoustically resonant. This model’s unique offset, double-cutaway shape is eye catching and distinctly PRS. The mahogany body meets up with a set, scarfed mahogany neck in a PRS Pattern Regular shape. When the neck is paired with a twenty-two-fret rosewood fingerboard, the full experience of the neck comes together as quick and outfitted for easy trips across higher and lower registers. Iconic PRS Birds fret inlays line the rosewood for that unmistakable PRS visual stamp.
This PRS S2 Vela Semi-Hollow is outfitted with a unique and dynamic PRS pickup configuration. Loaded to the pickguard and with many musical trails to trek, a PRS DS-01 pickup in the treble position produces a bright and punchy tone. This first sonic engine is matched with a PRS Narrowfield pickup in the bass position to further widen the palette of sounds available. A coil-tap tone control allows players to split the treble pickup to incorporate authentic single-coil tonality and get even more sonic mileage.
A refined PRS hardware setup brings this whole musical experience together. Throwing back to PRS's past, a plate-style bridge lands on this model, harkening to early top-loading PRS bridge designs. This specific bridge features two brass saddles and a steel plate to compensate for intonation and provide ease in stringing. PRS’s low mass locking tuners contribute to this guitar’s total stability to solidify a consistent sound and feel across the whole instrument.
